Yamaha YZF-R1 YZF R1 Complete Engine 4XV 5JJ 98-01 1998 2001.

So here is the story with this engine.

Was in a bike with 35k miles. Went on a track day to Bedford and dropped the bike on the pit straight. Bike was too badly damaged to repair so breaking entire bike. Engine has dyno print out from just before the crash saying 126hp at the wheel.

Engine started after the crash but was blowing blue smoke. I have ripped the engine apart and found it to be a failed valve stem seal in the head so easy fix.

All cylinders have cracked liners but I did suspect this before the crash due to the amount of blow by from the gearbox. However the bike still puts out 126hp at the wheel with cracked liners.

Selling this as spares and repairs. It would be an easy fix to get going again just a valve stem seal. Perfect to slap into a track bike after. Or for spare parts.

Good bits:

Gearbox is decent, selects all gears

Clutch works as normal

Head in good condition (exhaust studs not rusty)

Camshafts in decent condition

Stator all good

Valve cover good

Thermostat good

Cam chain good

Gearbox output shaft good including sprocket

Gear selector shaft good

Clutch cover mint

All sensors connected

Water pump good

Starter motor good

Pistons good

Bad bits:

Cracked liners

Failed valve stem seal

Ignition cover scuffed up

I can put loosely back together before collection or can keep it apart.
