Hi and welcome to my listing.

Edit 19/08/23

Charged battery, holds charge at 12v, electrics work ok, lights and such, turned over fine, didn’t start of course but the bike turned over right away. Sounds like it always did, a bike turning over. New pics uploaded of hud with illuminated lights to show functionality.

Not seized after being sat, which is really good, although I use very good oil made for this bike. I have the bottle with some left in to show what’s in it.

Here I have my Aprilia Scarabeo 125 touring scooter, not currently running as has been sat for over a year uncovered in the garden.

First pic is the day I collected the bike.

Reason for this is I got tired of it after all the work I put into it.

Owned the bike for about 7-8 years now, was running when I purchased, well serviced, lots of paper work going back over a decade. Previous owner added a by pass for the radiator being water cooled, as it would get hot when sat in traffic, it’s just a switch that turns the radiator fan on so it stays nice and cool when idling in traffic, only did it when warmed up and sat in long traffic.

Rode it for a year or so, very fast bike for a 125, easily do 70+ mph when running ok.

Brought it from Whickham to my new house in Northumberland, rode it all the way no problems.

Took it to the shop after being in Northumberland only a few weeks and it just died, wouldn’t start at all.

So took it apart to find a valve had snapped, purchased a new cylinder head for £298 for whole assembly, fitted it, finally got it running, so took for a test ride. Got only a few miles away for it to just stop and not start again at the roadside.

After a new exhaust, new relay, ht lead and a few other small bits, nuts and bolts, took for an mot, for it to pass with 1 remark, front brake disk near wear limit, rode it to its mot, all good.

Brought it back home and it stopped running again! Back to the drawing board. I found that the fuel tank had a bunch of black bits in after draining the fuel, as it would start I just needed to put fuel on the air filter. Cleaned the carb by stripping, cleaned out old fuel, added new fuel, wouldn’t turn over on the button, had to jump the relay? Has been like this since after putting on 4/5 relays for it not to work.

New exhaust cost nearly £500 as these are imported bikes and had to buy from Italy to get a new one. Same as cylinder head. Also fitted new gaskets when doing the cylinder head, new piston rings too.

Also had hand guards fitted to keep wind off during rides, works quite well, heated gloves was purchased on top of. Bought used from Italy and fitted myself.

Tyres are Michelin, probably past date now, although have loads of tread. Will most likely need air now too being sat so long.

Sorted all rusty bits of frame with corrosion inhibitor, sprayed with new coat of black paint when working on it.

I’ve probably done more work than I have mentioned, it’s been a while and was a bit ago now. Oh got a new gel battery for it when I bought it too, probably no good now but it’s a maybe. Has alternator for charging so once running may be ok. Also fixed a coolant leak as it was loosing lots of it during rides, bled the system of bubbles, was running sweet as, when it was last running. I think the black bits in fuel was the tank maybe, being an old bike and sitting with fuel in, possibly coming off the inside blocking the carb over and over.

Relay, I really don’t know, it’s had a few to not work once fitted.

This bike has cost me more to fix than I paid for it, exhaust almost cost more than the bike, I paid £550 for the bike.

Got too much into it to spend more time and money on it and personal reasons forces sale, plus I won’t be putting more into it now. Don’t have the time or money any more, change in personal situation forces sale really although as mentioned I won’t be any way as it’s just got to me!

Excellent bike to get back on the road or used as spares, very rare bike, don’t see these at all, I haven’t any way. Looks worse than it is, just needs plastics putting back on and spider webs wiping off. I think it’s a carb issue reason for not starting.

It’s a 1999 so basically a classic. Has side panniers too, quite a heavy bike for a scooter. Lots of carry space for a commuter, going to the shop, if it doesn’t die that is. And rear helmet box on the back. Can carry a pillion passenger with comfort. Very large seat and hand grabs for them to sit back and chill.

I’m sure an Aprilia expert will be able to find the issue in no time and have her back on the road running sweet.

Very well looked after until it pee’d me off and life got in the way. Been told Aprilia bikes can be like this. Great project for the winter garage dweller or bike collector as this is a very rare bike.

Will need to be collected on transport of course, bare in mind my location when looking, I live in Sharperton, near Rothbury, far from civilisation or even a shop!

I can’t deliver the bike at all! Buyer will need to collect. Price reflects new parts and work carried out, should be ok to start if you know what your doing. I did it enough times I’m sure a bike mechanic/collector/enthusiast certainly can.

If I have forgotten some thing I’m sure I will add later.

Not mot, spare key, all keys for panniers and box.

Belt driven centrifugal drive, royal engine, also very rare and powerful. Excellent on fuel when running. All lights work, or did.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for looking,

May be accepting offers, if it’s there I am! If not it may have a bid on.
